On today’s episode, Alexandra speaks with Sarah Durham Wilson of The Mother Spirit!
Sarah Durham Wilson is a women’s rites of passage leader and writer. Sarah’s offerings are rooted in archetypal mother work and resurrecting the rite of passage from maiden to mother. She has taught courses and led retreats for thousands of women over the past decade and works with private clients. She previously worked as an arts and music writer in New York City, writing for Rolling Stone, VH1, GQ, Vanity Fair, and Interview Magazine. In 2010, she began writing under the pen name DOITGIRL, which provided inspiration for women interested in the path of the witch and priestess. She lives in New England with her daughter Avalon and two familiars, Odin and Ridley. Maiden to Mother - Her first book with Sounds True Publishing, is out 06/07/22.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
Ideas on working with and trusting coaches and mentors who have been through difficult experiences in life and ‘dark nights of the soul’ vs. those who choose to only focus on the positive.
How to avoid branding yourself into a rigid box that doesn’t allow for change or transformation, and ways to honor your changing self in business.
Ideas on being an “awakened” person as in a person who is called to end the generational suffering of your lineage.
Sarah’s experience of learning to mother herself so that she could show up and be a nurturing mother herself.
The idea of viewing patriarchy as a cult that we are all currently participating in, and alternative cults as being attempts at ways to leave the cult of patriarchy.
